Influenced by such artists as Vermeer, Monet, and Andrew Wyeth, Terry
Rosenfelder patiently fills his paintings with carefully observed light,
shadows, color, and detail. Terry hopes to bring to the viewer the same
enchantment he felt for his subjects. He takes hundreds of photographs as
references, but he is not interested in copying them. "Artistic license"
is used when he paints a scene, and sometimes elements from two photos are
combined. By adding and subtracting details he works to create the mood
he's after, which is often peaceful or reflective. He composes his
paintings with great care and believes colors should be mixed artfully to
resemble the lighting and the subtle hues of the scene.
